Centrifuge tubes commonly used in laboratories include plastic and glass, and plastic is generally used more often. Plastic centrifuge tubes are made of PP (polypropylene), PC (polycarbonate), PE (polyethylene), etc. The performance of PP tubes is relatively good. Plastic centrifuge tubes are transparent or semi-transparent, so you can visualize the sample centrifugation, but they are easier to deform and less resistant to the corrosive properties of organic solvents, so they have a shorter service life. The following is an introduction to the centrifuge tube of each material:

PP (Polypropylene): It is semi-transparent and has good chemical and temperature stability, but it will become brittle at low temperatures, so don't centrifuge it below 4.

PC (polycarbonate): It is of better transparency, hardness, and can be sterilized at high temperatures, but not resistant to strong acids and alkalis, as well as some organic solvents such as alcohol.

PE (polyethylene): It is opaque and does not react with acetone, acetic acid, hydrochloric acid, etc., and is relatively stable and easily softened at high temperature.

PA (polyamide): It is a polymer of PP and PE, translucent, chemically very stable, but it is not resistant to high temperature.

PS (polystyrene): It is transparent, hard, stable to most aqueous solutions, but corroded by a variety of organic substances, mostly used for low-speed centrifugation, and generally disposable.

PF (polyfluoro): It is semi-transparent and can be used at low temperatures. If the experimental environment is under -100 -140 , you can use this material centrifuge tube.

CAB (cellulose butyl acetate): It is transparent and can be used for more dilute acids, bases and salts, as well as for the gradient determination of alcohol and sucrose.

When using the Tissue Mill GT50 or the Vibratory Ball Mill GT300 for tissue or hair grinding, 2 ml or 5 ml centrifuge tubes with an adapter is usually used; when using the Vibratory Ball Mill GT300 for soil grinding, 50 ml centrifuge tubes with an adapter is usually used.
